Monte Vista Celebrates Grand Opening of New Student Center!

The students and staff of Monte Vista High School recently celebrated the grand opening of their new student center on October 29th. The new facility features an updated technology suite for the students to enjoy and an updated, more modern meeting space.

The two-story, 18,000 square foot facility also features a cafe, extended library and a career center. Students were involved with the planning of the new facility with some students specializing in the planning stages while others helped with the construction aspects.

Upgrades had not been made to the Monte Vista library since 1965, making Monte Vista the last school in the district to see these much needed improvements. Dave Duffield and his wife Cheryl gave $281,000 in 2010 for new technology upgrades and furnishings at the library. Some of the money that was donated will also be utilized to purchase  laptops and video conferencing for the library, and for staff costs.
