Danville Hotel “Coming Down” in October

Danville is about to look a bit different in the coming weeks, as plans are moving forward to demolish the Danville Hotel this month. Castle Companies, an area development firm, is moving forward with plans to tear down the Danville Hotel Wild West structures (running from Hartz to Railroad to Prospect Avenues) during the month of October, according to Danville’s Town Manager Joe Calabrigo.

The building was evacuated by all tenants except for the Sideboard Cafe back in September. Plans entail demolishing 14,387 square feet of existing retail space (with the exception of two historic buildings behind the Danville Hotel). In its place, developers will build a mixed use community totaling approximately 34,585 square feet of residential, retail and dining space. Currently, sixteen residential units are scheduled into the community plans.

While not a lot of information has been released about the architectural and landscaping design details, Town Manager Calabrigo confirmed that developers plan to restore the Danville Hotel back to its original historic condition.
