Attention High School Students: Your Essay Could Win $5000!
What high school student isn’t strapped for cash? If your student enjoys writing, then a current essay contest that is going on may be right up his or her alley. The winner of the essay contest will get $5000!
Students (grades 9-12) must live within the San Ramon Valley Unified School District in order to be eligible and the deadline for essay submission is April 13. Students attending schools that are not part of the SRVUSD are eligible as long as they live within the school district. Essays are required to be at least 800 words and should not exceed 1000 words.
The essay subject is as follows: “The three WAR POWERS ACTS 1941, 1942 and 1973, are they CONSTITUTIONAL or UNCONSTITUTIONAL?” The student writer may argue either side of the case, but must support it with quotes from the Constitution.
A cover sheet needs to accompany the essay and list the student’s name, address, e-mail, phone number, grade and school. All essays and cover sheets must be e-mailed to firstname.lastname@example.org with the subject line “War Power Acts.” The winner will be acknowledged on May 14th at the Exchange Club luncheon
